Search Help and Tips

A number of options for searching are provided - if you are new to the site we suggest you try the Basic Search method first.

Basic Search

Use this to find all the job vacancies in a particular Job Category in or around a selected County.

  1. Select a Country then a County.
  2. Select a Job Category.
  3. Ensure "include all jobs in nearby counties" is ticked, or un-ticked as required.
  4. Click the "Search" Button.

County Only Search

Use this to find all types of job vacancies in or around a selected County.

  1. Select a Country then a County.
  2. Leave the Job Category selection box as the default option.
  3. Click the "Search" Button.

Job Category Only Search

Use this to find job vacancies in a particular Job Category in any location.

  1. Select a Job Category.
  2. Leave the County selection box as the default option.
  3. Click the "Search" Button.

Keywords Only Search

Use this to find extremely specific job vacancies matching ALL of your given keywords.

  1. Enter your relevent Keywords into the Job Title box.
  2. Enter your relevent Location into the City/Town box.
  3. Click the "Search" Button.
Note: With this type of search ALL the relevant keywords you enter will be looked for ("AND" type search). It is better to use fewer keywords so that you don't exclude jobs that you may be interested in e.g. "Bristol chef cook" would be less effective than "Bristol chef" because a chef job may not necessarily also include the keyword "cook".

Job Reference Search

Job Reference Search enables you to find a specific vacancy using the unique code attached to every job posted on the 1Job site (e.g. JSE-xxxxxxx where x denotes the unique reference numbers).

  1. Locate a unique job reference code.
  2. Enter the reference code into the Job Title/Keyword search box.
  3. Click the Search button to retrieve the required job vacancy.

Include Nearby Counties

Ticking this box allows you to extend your search to counties within commutable distance based on adjacent counties and even further afield if good transport links are available.

Jobs Directory

Use this to help browse for job vacancies by location or if you do not wish to use the search boxes method. If you wish to Browse by County or Town/County why not try our simple Jobs Directory. Note: you cannot use the "include nearby counties" or Keywords facility with this method of searching.

Search Results

The search results provide summary details of the Job vacancies. Clicking on the Job Title link takes you directly to the recruiters job vacancy advert on the recruiters website, or to the recruiters website home page. Below the Job Title, there is a link to the recruiters website home page, a link to return only results from that selected recruiter and the option to save that job to your job basket. To review any saved jobs, click on the Job Basket link from the top menu bar. Here you will see any jobs saved to your Job Basket in the last 30 days. Each job advert also contains a date. This is an indicator of the date the job was checked to be still live on the recruiters website by our indexing robot.

Viewing Full Job Details and Applying for Jobs

This is done by clicking on the Job Title link which takes you directly to the recruiters full job vacancy advert on the recruiters website, or to the recruiters website home page. If you are interested in any vacancy, applications are made directly to the recruiter in the way specified in the recruiters advert. 1Job.co.uk does not provide any direct method of email CV posting to the recruiter on the 1Job.co.uk site.

Cookies

Cookies are used on the 1Job.co.uk site to maintain your previously saved Job vacancy adverts known as the Job Basket. Once jobs have been added to the Job Basket, these jobs can be reviewed by clicking the Job Basket link. Here, you can remove jobs from the Job Basket by clicking the "Remove from Basket" link on the advert you wish to remove. Unless job adverts are removed, they will remain stored in your Job Basket for 30 days.
